Sophie Day is a quintessentially Melbourne product. She has established a career in two of the city’s most famed institutions; sport and art. A professional cricketer and graduate of the University of Melbourne’s Victorian College of Arts, Sophie’s work embodies the places she works, trains and lives. Through her use of exaggerated colour and bold lines, she captures both the vibrancy and distinct form of Melbourne’s iconic landmarks. Sophie’s city is brought to the fore in this exhibition entitled ‘Background’.
